The Greater Manchester Business Awards consists of 8 individual awards:


Business of the Year (2 Categories)

This award will be presented to an organisation that has showcases an excellence in all business areas. The awards will be split into businesses of Under 10 Employees / Over 10 Employees

The judging will focus on:

  • The organisation must showcase its commercial success
  • Growth in its industry either internationally or nationally
  • How it motivates, supports and develops its employees
  • Creativity or innovation
  • It’s plans going forward, how will it continue its growth

Business Person of the Year

All individuals are eligible to enter this award, we often get nominations on behalf of another individual for this award. The criteria for this award is based on the success of the individual and the influence they have had on the business/ organisations and those around them .

The judging will focus on:

  • The individuals influence on the success of the business
  • Excellence of the individual in their industry
  • The influence / mentoring and support they provide to their team and employees
  • Individual skills and attributes that have effected the business in a positive way
  • It’s fine to brag about the persons success, often individuals are more happy to talk about their business. We want to hear about the person here.

Business Innovation Award/New Business

This award will be presented to an organisation that has showcased Business Innovation & a New Business in their industry or the region as a whole. Business innovation is when an organisation introduces new processes, services, or products to affect positive change in their business. This can include improving existing methods or practices, or starting from scratch.

The judging will focus on:

  • The organisation must produce new processes, services or products
  • The innovation must have a positive change in the business – you will need to demonstrate this
  • How has this improved things for your customers?
  • Was this creating something from scratch or improving existing methods?

This award will be presented to an organisation that showcases that it provides the highest quality of customer service excellence. In order to win this award you will need to show how you develop great customer service, whilst also the method you use for monitoring and bench-marking this experience.

The judging will focus on:

  • How does the business track customer service excellence, can you demonstrate this?
  • How do you benchmark your success against your competitors
  • Showcase the customer journey and how each team member ensures a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Ambitions to improve the customer service experience

This award will be presented to an organisation that has showcases its CSR aims to ensure that the business acts in a way that is ethical. This means taking account of their social, economic and environmental impact, and consideration of human rights.

The judging will focus on:

  • How you work in partnership with local communities
  • Socially Responsible Investment
  • What programmes do you use to make the biggest impact your communities and how do you monitor its success?
  • How you develop relationships with customers and employees to increase the CSR value
  • Provide detail

This award will be presented to an organisation that has showcases its commitment to provide a positive and supportive environment. The award shows a true commitment to the welfare of its employees. , resulting in high staff satisfaction levels and a well-motivated, ambitious and integrated workforce.

The judging will focus on:

  • The organisation must showcase its high staff satisfaction levels
  • How the business motivates its employees
  • How the business supports the development of individuals
  • How the business integrates its employees into the business to make them feel a part of its success

Wellbeing in the Workplace Award

This award will be presented to a company that supports it’s employees and team members wellbeing and mental health. Workplace wellness is any workplace health promotion activity or organizational policy designed to support healthy behavior in the workplace and to improve health outcomes.

This award will be presented to an organisation that shows compassion to their employees wellbeing also works with their employee in creating positive mental health in the workplace.

The judging will focus on:

  • Examples of the organisation helping the employees wellbeing resulting in positive outcome
  • Any collaborations the organisation has done with any mental health services that involved their employees (such as raising money as a team for Mind)
  • How the organisation promotes wellbeing to their employees
